Manchester CT is home to the Manchester Road Race held annually on Thanksgiving morning. This huge event is enjoyed by runners, walkers and many spectators from near and far. The road race started in 1927 with only twelve runners participating in the 4.748 mile race with over 15,000 registered runners for the race in 2011. If you enjoy car shows, Manchester holds a huge annual car show in August that runs from one end of Main Street to the other. There is great shopping at Buckland Hills Mall and the Promenade Shoppes at Evergreen Walk, as well as many restaurants in the Town of Manchester.

Northwest Park is a great place offers a lighted baseball field and lighted Little League field. For nature lovers and hikers/walkers, the 2.4 miles Union Pond Trail portion of the Hockanum River Linear Park extends into Northwest Park. Wickham Park is a non-profit, private foundation whose property extends into both Manchester and East Hartford, CT. The park contains 250 acres of gardens, open fields, woodlands, ponds, and picnic areas.
